Microsoft Application Request Routing (ARR) for IIS 7 is a proxy-based routing module that forwards HTTP requests to application servers based on HTTP headers, server variables, and load balance algorithms.
ARR version 2.5 is an incremental release that includes all of the features from version 1 and 2. ARR version 2.5 improves the performance and scalability of disk caching features in ARR.

Supported Operating System
Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
Internet Information Services 7.0 or newer must be installed.

Important: ARR Version 2.5 supports upgrading from ARR Version 1 and from ARR Version 2. If any other version of ARR is already installed, such as a pre-RTW release, uninstall both ARR and URL Rewrite before proceeding. Note that the corresponding configurations will be lost.
