      The Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Domain Services Management Pack for Operations Manager 2005 provides a predefined, ready-to-run set of rules, monitoring scripts, and reports that are designed specifically to monitor the performance and availability of Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). The Active Directory Domain Services Management Pack monitors events that are placed in the Application, System, and Directory Service event logs by various AD DS components and subsystems. The Active Directory Domain Services Management Pack also monitors the overall health of AD DS and alerts you to critical performance issues.

      • Adds support for monitoring systems running Windows Server 2008

    • After you download the management pack files, import the management pack into Operations Manager 2005.

      To import the Active Directory Domain Services Management Pack
      1. In the MOM Administrator Console, right-click Management Packs in the console pane, and click Import/Export Management Pack.
      2. The Import/Export Management Pack Wizard opens. Click Next.
      3. Click Import Management Packs, and then click Next.
      4. Type the path to the management pack, or browse to the folder. By default, these files are installed to %Installdir%\Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Domain Services.
      5. Click Import management packs only, and then click Next.
      6. Select the Active Directory Domain Services Management Pack file.
      7. To complete the wizard:
        • Select Update existing Management Pack or Replace Management Pack.
        • If you do not need to save a previous management pack, clear the Backup existing Management Pack check box.
        • Click Next.
      8. Click Finish.
      9. If you want to save a text file record of the items imported, click Create Log File.
      10. Type a path and location for the text file (or click Browse to locate an appropriate place to store the file), and then click Save.
      11. Click Close.
      12. If you need to install additional management packs, repeat steps 1 through 8 for each management pack.
