The New Zealand Government has embarked on an intensive programme to ensure all New Zealand babies, children and youth are protected from the Meningococcal B disease. The programme has a strong administration component to ensure consents from the children’s guardians are in place and accurate records of the three-part vaccination are kept. Tackling the biggest group – school children – using public health nurses and the schools vaccination programme is a significant step and one that required stable and future-proofed technology to support it.

A partnership between The Simpl Group and Hutt Valley District Health Board, using Microsoft .NET and Microsoft SQL Server 2000, developed the required client server system. The solution also delivered the Ministry of Health a standardised platform across its District Health Boards(DHBs) for future health initiatives. Its flexible design and architecture offers many more potential solutions within the Public Health Units
