Overview
This update contains an improved version of the Exchcsp.dll, which
provides encryption services to Microsoft Outlook® 2000. The
dynamic-link library (DLL) in this update contains improvements
specifically for use with Outlook 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) and
128-bit security encryption. If you are using 40-bit or 56-bit security
encryption, see Updated 40- or 56-Bit Encryption Provider for Outlook 2000 SR-1.
If you are using 40-bit or 56-bit security encryption and you want to update Outlook to 128-bit security encryption, you can install this update. However, you should install the Microsoft Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack first.
To determine if you are using 128-bit encryption, do the
following:
- Start Outlook 2000.
- On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Outlook.
- Click Security Info.
- If you see Cipher Strength 128 bits under Microsoft Outlook 2000, you are using 128-bit encryption.
If you see Cipher Strength 40 bits or Cipher Strength 56 bits under Microsoft Outlook 2000, you are using 40-bit or 56-bit encryption. See Updated 40- or 56-Bit Encryption Provider for Outlook 2000 SR-1 for the correct update.
- Click OK twice to return to Outlook 2000.
Note This update requires that you have installed Outlook 2000 SR-1.
