      This is the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 component update to address Remote Boot Installer End-User EULA Update Tool (Q816490).

      When Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 was released, it included a technology called Remote Boot Server, which allows Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 runtime to boot from a network image. A server-side installation package (MSI) was included with Remote Boot Server to allow OEM customers to distribute the Remote Boot Server technology to their end-user customers along with their custom solutions.

      The Remote Boot Server MSI contains a standard Microsoft End-User License Agreement (EULA). Since this EULA describes an agreement between Microsoft and the OEM, and not between the OEM customer and their end-user customers, the EULA needs to be replaced in the Remote Boot Server MSI. Windows XP Embedded customers who intend to ship the Remote Boot Server MSI to end-user customers must replace the default Microsoft EULA with their own custom EULA.

      1. Download Q816490_XPE_SP2_x86_ENU.exe

      2. Extract the contents of Q816490_XPE_SP2_x86_ENU.exe to a temporary location on your hard drive.

      3. Read the Updating Custom EULA.rtf file in the Rep folder for instructions on how to use the QFE.
