      The Microsoft Password Change Notification Service enables synchronization of password changes in Active Directory to Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 (MIIS), Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007 (ILM), Forefront Identity Manager 2010 (FIM), Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2, or the Microsoft Enterprise Single Sign-On (ENTSSO) service. These components simplify password management in organizations with multiple user identity repositories.

      Minimum Hardware Requirements The following hardware is suggested for an installation of Microsoft Password Change Notification Service:
      • Server with 550 MHz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 133 MHz minimum required; Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor.
      • 256 MB of RAM or higher recommended. 128 MB minimum required.

      3. Extract the files to the domain controller(s) on which you want to install PCNS.
      4. Follow the installation instructions in the PCNS Step-by-Step Guide.
    • The Password Change Notification filter and service components must be installed on all Domain Controllers in a domain that is synchronizing with the configured targets. If the Password Change Notification Service is not installed and running on a domain controller, then any password changes that originate on that domain controller will not be synchronized.
