The modeling of aerodynamic effects in real-time flight simulators is a continuously evolving field. It is becoming increasingly relevant for flight simulators to more accurately describe the local unsteady environmental flow around the vehicle, in a time-accurate way for applications such as wake vortex and helicopter-ship airwake interaction scenarios. This is important from both development and training perspectives. This is an extremely challenging problem that is being tackled using a variety of techniques.
