Overview

Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Office XP. SP3 contains significant security enhancements, in addition to stability and performance improvements. This service pack applies to any level of Office XP. It contains all updates included in Office XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), and updates released after SP2.

Microsoft recommends that you use the Office Update site to determine if your computer requires this update before installing it.

Office XP SP3 will install successfully even if one or more of the publicly available updates, listed earlier in this document, have already been installed on your computer.

Office XP SP3 also includes stability improvements developed due to user input from the Error Reporting Tool in Office XP and from Microsoft Product Support feedback.

To install SP3 without the original Office XP CD

When installing SP3, you may be prompted to insert one or more of your original Office XP CD-ROMs. If you do not have access to your original Office XP CD-ROM you can install Office XP SP3 Full File Version (58925 KB). Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation. Note: Some users will still be prompted for the original CD when using the Office XP SP3 Full File Version, depending on your installation of Office XP. To install when using an Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack

For complete Office XP SP3 functionality if you are using an Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI), you will need to install both of the following:

• Office XP Update: Service Pack 3 (SP3)
• Office XP Update: Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack

Office XP SP3 and Access 2002

If you are an Access 2002 user, you may need the Access 2002 Update: KB833857. To determine whether you need this update, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article (833857) Overview of the Access 2002 Update: KB833857.

Instructions

To install this download

1. You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
2. Download one of the two exe files using the links at the bottom of the page and saving the file to your hard disk:
   
   
   • OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-client-enu.exe: You should download this file if you have access to your installation source (usually Office XP product CDs). You will need to provide the installation source during patch installation if you have previously updated your Office XP product(s).
   
   
   
   • OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe: Download this file if you do not have access to your installation source or if you experience problems installing the officeXpSp3-kb832671-client-enu.exe file.
   
   Either file will update your Office XP products to SP3 level.
   
   
3. Double-click the downloaded file on your hard disk to start the setup program.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

After you install this update, use Office as you typically would.
