This update is included in Office 97 Service Release 1 .
If you use a dial-up Internet service provider for your e-mail system in Microsoft Outlook® 97, the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch (IMEP) gives you popular features found in other Internet e-mail products, and it improves the Outlook Internet Mail information service.

To install this download
- You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
- Download the file from this page by clicking the Download link above and following the instructions in the dialog boxes.
- Double-click the outlimep.exe program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Be certain to have your dial-up connection information handy.
Instructions for use:
The Internet Mail Enhancement Patch adds these Internet mail features to Outlook 97:
- Support for multiple POP3 accounts in the same user profile
- Improved support for storing messages on POP3 servers
- Marking of original text with an angle bracket (>) in reply messages
- Full message headers for Internet e-mail messages
To remove this download:- In Outlook 97, on the Tools menu, click Options, click the General tab, and then click Add-In Manager.
- In the list, click Internet Mail, click Remove, and then click OK. Click OK again to close the Options dialog box.
- On the File menu, click Exit and Log Off to quit Outlook.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the Mail and Fax icon (or the Mail icon).
- On the Services tab, click Internet E-mail in the list, and then click Remove to remove it from your default profile. In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click OK. If you've installed the patch for other profiles, click Show Profiles, click Properties, click Internet E-mail in the list, and then click Remove for each profile.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, double-click Control Panel, and then double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- In the list, click Microsoft Outlook Internet Mail Enhancement Patch, and then click Add/Remove. In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click Yes.
- In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Outlook 97 from the list, click Add/Remove, and then click Reinstall to restore the original Internet Mail driver.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the Mail and Fax icon (or the Mail icon). Click Add, click Internet E-mail in the list, and then click OK.
