        This download updates the Virtual Machine Manager component of System Center 2012 to enable the component's management server to run on the Windows Server “8” Beta, to manage virtual machines (VMs) hosted on Windows Server “8” Beta and to manage new features in Windows Server “8” beta.

        Feature Summary
        The CTP enables the Virtual Machine Manager component's management server to run on the Windows Server “8” Beta as well as managing virtual machines (VMs) hosted on Windows Server “8” Beta. The CTP also enables management of new Windows Server “8” Beta features in Virtual Machine Manager:
        • Creation of Hyper-V Virtual Networks using Hyper-V Network Virtualization
        • Creation of virtual machines using the VHDx format
        • SMB 2.2 file servers as storage for virtual machines in a clustered and non-clustered environment
        • Live migration and live storage migration
    • Supported Operating System

      Windows Server 8 Beta

        • Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2 with Hyper-V is required to use this VHD to create a virtual machine.
        • Windows Server “8” Beta (Management Server, Console, Library Server, VM Hosts)
        • Windows Server “8” Beta or Windows Server 2008 R2 (Database Server)
        • Windows Server “8” Beta is the only supported guest operating system
        1. Download the self-extracting SC2012_SP1_CTP_VMM_EVALVHD.part01.exe file and the all other “.rar” files
        2. Download the “Evaluating System Center 2012 SP1 - Virtual Machine Manager by Using a Pre-Configured VHD.docx" step-by-step instructions for how to use the VHD to create a virtual machine
        3. Place all downloaded files in the same directory
        4. Double-click the self-extracting VSC2012_SP1_CTP_VMM_EVALVHD.part01.exe file to extract the VHD file
        5. Follow the instructions on the “Evaluating System Center 2012 SP1 - Virtual Machine Manager by Using a Pre-Configured VHD.docx” file to complete the setup of VMM
