      The Apps for Office and SharePoint Preview software development kit (SDK) includes documentation and code samples to help you develop and publish apps for Office and apps for SharePoint.

Visit frequently to learn about recently published content; to view essential getting-started content; to view videos and screencasts; to get connected to instructor-led training and other learning resources; and to find community resources such as MSDN forums, newsgroups, MVP blogs, and much more.

    Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3

      • The SDK does not require additional applications to install the files. However, to open the documentation, you must have Document Explorer 2005 installed, which you probably do if you have Visual Studio installed. If you do not, the setup program for the SDK provides a link from which you can download Document Explorer.

    Install Instructions
      To install this download
      1. Uninstall previous versions of the Apps for Office and SharePoint Preview SDK before you install this download.
      2. Download the setup program by choosing the Download button and saving the file to your hard disk drive.
      3. Open the AppsForOfficeSDK.msi program file on your hard disk drive to start the setup program.
      4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

      The default installation directory is %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs\Apps for Office and SharePoint Preview. The setup file installs a Start menu shortcut: Navigate to All Programs, and choose Microsoft SDKs, Apps for Office and SharePoint Preview SDK.

      To remove this download
      • To remove the download file, delete AppsForOfficeSDK.msi.
      • To remove the installed files, open Control Panel, and then choose Programs and Features. Choose Microsoft Apps for Office and SharePoint Preview SDK, and then choose the Uninstall button.
