The SharePoint 2013 Preview software development kit (SDK) includes documentation and code samples for SharePoint Foundation 2013 Preview; for SharePoint Server 2013 Preview, which builds upon the SharePoint Foundation 2013 Preview infrastructure; and for SharePoint Online. The documentation includes detailed descriptions of the technologies that SharePoint provides for developers, reference documentation for the server and client object models, and step-by-step procedures for using these technologies and object models and programming with them. This SDK also includes best practices and setup guidance to help you get started with your own custom applications that build on and extend SharePoint.

  • System Requirements

    Supported Operating System

Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3

      • The SDK does not require additional applications to install the files. However, to open the documentation, you must have Document Explorer 2005 installed, which you probably do if you have Visual Studio installed. If you do not, the setup program for the SDK provides a link from which you can download Document Explorer.
      • To use the code samples, we recommend that you also install the following applications on the same computer where the package is installed:
        • Visual Studio 2012, Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2008, or Visual Studio 2005 to open and compile the sample projects
        • SharePoint Foundation 2013 Preview
        • SharePoint Server 2013 Preview
        • Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Redistributable Package
