        The Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet enables Microsoft enterprise search systems to index the contents of an IBM FileNet repository. Once indexed, this connector also allows IBM FileNet search results to be displayed for users from within the Microsoft enterprise search system. These capabilities are based on the connector’s ability to natively access the appropriate file formats, data structures and security implementation of the IBM FileNet document management system.

      Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows XP

        • This download works with the following Office programs:
          • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft Search Server 2008, or Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express installed and configured
        • The following is also required:
          • FileNet index servers are installed and configured
          • Shared Services Administration site on the index servers is configured
          • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed
            • Note: The complete recommended version is 2.0.50727.42, though other versions may also be supported
          • Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 is installed
          • Access to a FileNet P8 Content Engine version 3.5.1 or later, with FileNet P8 Content Engine Client Connectivity, is installed on the search product
          • Domain accounts are provided with sufficient user access to the search product and administrator or power user privileges for FileNet object stores, FileNet Document Classes, and SharePoint document libraries
      • You must run either one or both installers that are included in the self-extracting .exe file packaged with Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet. Depending on how you need to deploy the doc viewer, there are two possible options for installation:
        • Install only on an index server
        • Install on index servers and front-end servers
          • Note: Do NOT run the two installers on the same server, as it will break the DLLs

        Installing on an index or stand-alone server
        If your system environment has an index server to run Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet, run the IndexConn2008FileNet_Indexer.msi on the index server.

        The IndexConn2008FileNet_Indexer.msi includes the following:
        1. Connector DLLs
        2. Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 configuration tool
        3. License Manager
        4. Create Content Source tool
        5. Doc viewer
        To begin the installation of Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet on an index server:
        1. Ensure that the environment is set up as described in the System Requirements.
        2. Download the self-extracting IndexConn2008FileNet.exe.
          • Note: The self-extracting .exe file will yield installer files for both installation on an index server and on a front-end server. Be sure to use the correct .msi file for your particular installation.
        3. Run the IndexConn2008FileNet_Indexer.msi.
        4. Complete the installation wizard. We recommend that you accept the default selections provided.
        Installing on a front-end server:
        When installing Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet on a front-end server, you must run the IndexConn2008FileNet_WFE.msi on each machine.
        The IndexConn2008FileNet_WFE.msi includes:
        1. Connector DLLs
        2. License Manager
        3. Doc viewer
        To install Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet on a front-end server:
        1. Download the self-extracting IndexConn2008FileNet.exe.
          • Note: The self-extracting .exe file will yield installer files for both installation on an index server and on a front-end server. Be sure to use the correct .msi file for your particular installation.
        2. Run IndexConn2008FileNet_WFE.msi.
        3. Complete the installation wizard.
          • Note: We recommended that you accept the default selections provided.

        Deployment scenarios:
        Before installing Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet, you must determine how Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet and the doc viewer will be deployed in your system environment. There are two options for deployment:
        • Deploy on a stand-alone server
        • Deploy in a server farm environment

        Stand-alone server:
        If you have no front-end servers on which to install the doc viewer, but have a site collection host, you can install both Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet and doc viewer on the index server.

        Index server and front-end servers:
        If you choose to deploy Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet in a farm-based environment with front-end servers, install Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet on the index server and perform a separate and complete installation of the doc viewer on each front-end server.

        To uninstall this download:
        1. On the Start menu click Control Panel.
        2. In Windows XP, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
        3. In Windows Vista, double-click Programs and Features.
        4. In the list of currently installed programs, select Microsoft Enterprise Search Indexing Connector 2008 for IBM FileNet and then click Remove or Add/Remove. If a dialog box appears, follow the instructions to remove the program.
        5. Click Yes or OK to confirm that you want to remove the program.
