      Due to Security requirements, WEC2013 installers prior to Update 33 (June 2016) will no longer be able to update to the latest version. i.e. you must use an installer from Update 33 or later to obtain the latest version.

      The monthly update from Oct 2015 Windows Embedded Compact 2013 Update 23 enables Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 support for Windows Embedded Compact 2013, with updated Platform Builder and other tools.  You can also download the latest Application Builder from here to develop Windows Embedded Compact 2013 application using Microsoft Visual Studio 2015

      The monthly update from Sep 2014 Windows Embedded Compact 2013 Update 11 provides new ARMv7 BSP, WiFi driver, application updates and bug fixes for Windows Embedded Compact 2013.

      i.MX6Q SABRE Lite ARMv7 BSP
      Windows Embedded Compact 2013 Update 11 includes a new board support package (BSP) for the Freescale i.MX6Q SABRE Lite Development Platform, which uses a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 MP core with Symmetric Multiprocessing. Main functions enabled in this BSP:
      • Bootloader (Ethernet, USB, SD, UART)
      • OAL and KITL
      • SMP
      • Ethernet
      • I2C, Serial, and USB
      • HDMI and LVDS Display
      • Audio
      • Graphics

      Realtek RTL8188CU, RTL8192CU, and RTL8188EU 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Driver
      Update 11 provides native WiFi based WLAN Driver with NDISv6 support for Realtek Semiconductor's RTL8188CU, RTL8192CU, and RTL8188EU 802.11 b/g/n WiFi chipsets. It is integrated with Microsoft's native USB stack and WPA/WPA2-PSK Supplicants. The drivers are tested and validated on CEPC x86, iMX6Q SABRE ARMV7 and TI OMAP7725 ARMV7 platforms.

      License Terms
      Update 11 contains new terms to the End User License Agreement of Windows Embedded Compact 2013.  You can find the new terms here: License Terms (2013). You need to accept the End User License Agreement in the installer before you can use this product. If you do not accept the terms of the license agreement, you will not be able to install the product.

        General Version Notes
      Your system will be updated using the "Update 5" version (8.0.6092.0) as the new baseline. Hence
      • if you are running a version prior to "Update 5" (e.g. 8.0.5033.0) you will need to uninstall that prior version before running the executable.
      • if you are running the "Update 5" version (8.0.6092.0) or later you do not need to uninstall the current version.
      • if you need to revert back from this latest version, your system will be restored to the "Update 5" version (8.0.6092.0).
      • you should backup the WEXT folder prior to running this update in case you need to revert back.

      • Windows 7 (x86-based and x64-based) and any available service packs
      • Windows 8 (x86-based and x64-based) and any available service packs
      • Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64-based) and any available service packs
      • Windows Server 2012 (x64-based) and any available service packs
      Required hardware
      Your computer must meet the following hardware requirements:
      • 100 GB (NTFS) of available hard disk space
      • 2.4 GHz processor
      • 5400 RPM hard drive
      • 2 GB of RAM
      • A DirectX 9-capable video card running at 1024 x 768 or higher display resolution
      • An optical drive that supports DVD
    • 1. Installing WEC2013 clean using an installer prior to Update 33 (June 2016)
      • Install WEC2013 prior to Update 33 with the desired options
      • Once the installation has completed, obtain the Update33 (or later) installer from MOO, MyOEM or the Download Center
      • Launch the obtained installer and it will update as normal to that version level
      • Once the update has completed, subsequent updates (if any) will be detected as normal by the installer
      2. Updating WEC2013 prior to Update 33
      • Download the most recent installer from MOO, MyOEM or the Download Center
      • Launch “WindowsEmbeddedCompact2013.exe”
      • This will start an update installation, proceed with the update installation
      3. Updating WEC2013 with Update 33 or later
      • Go to the update option from “Add or Remove programs” and select “Update” to successfully check, recognize and download any new available updates
      Prior Install Notes:
      • Download and run WindowsEmbeddedCompact2013_Update22.exe to update your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation up to Aug 31, 2015.  You can roll back to an earlier update.
      • Or download and run WindowsEmbeddedCompact2013.exe to update your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation post Aug 31, 2015.  Note - Once you run this update, you won’t be able to roll back your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation prior or to Update 22.
      • Download and open the readme file for a description of the included updates.
      As of Dec 2014, it is anticipated that when monthly updates are applicable, they will generally be available in the later half of each month.

      When a new update becomes available, the following will be updated
      • The files on this page, the helpfile will have a new name but the executable filename will remain the same.
      • The Version will be incremented, this corresponds to the version of the executable file.
      • The Effective (as of) date in the summary description
