        Windows Management Framework 5.0 makes updated management functionality available for installation on Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1 Enterprise, and Windows Server 2012.

        **IMPORTANT**
        Systems that are running the following server applications should not run Windows Management Framework 5.0 at this time.
        • System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (not including SP1)
        • Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard


        WMF 5.0 requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5. You can install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 from the Microsoft Download Center.

      • Instructions To prepare for installation of Windows Management Framework 5.0:
        1. Download the correct package for your operating system and architecture. The following architectures are supported.
          • Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1 Pro, and Windows 8.1 Enterprise
            • x64: WindowsBlue-KB3006193-x64.msu
            • x86: WindowsBlue-KB3006193-x86.msu
          • Windows Server 2012
            • x64: Windows8-RT-KB2894867-x64.msu
        2. Close all Windows PowerShell windows.

        To install WMF 5.0 from Windows Explorer (or File Explorer in Windows Server 2012 R2)
        1. Navigate to the folder into which you downloaded the MSU file.
        2. Double-click the MSU to run it.

        To install WMF 5.0 by using Command Prompt
        1. After you have downloaded the correct package for your computer's architecture, open a Command Prompt window with elevated user rights (Run as Administrator). On the Server Core installation options of Windows Server 2012 R2, Command Prompt opens with elevated user rights by default.
        2. Change directories to the folder into which you have downloaded or copied the WMF 5.0 installation package.
        3. Run one of the following commands.
          • On x64-based computers that are running Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1 Enterprise, or Windows Server 2012 R2 run WindowsBlue-KB3006193-x64.msu /quiet.
          • On x86-based computers that are running Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1 Enterprise, or Windows Server 2012 R2 run WindowsBlue-KB3006193-x86.msu /quiet.
          • On x64-based computers that are running Windows Server 2012 run Windows8-RT-KB2894867-x64.msu /quiet.

        To uninstall Windows Management Framework 5.0:
        • In Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Uninstall a program, locate and then uninstall the following installed Windows Update:
          • Windows Management Framework 5.0 November Preview (KB3006193 or KB2894867)
      • This software is a prerelease version. Features and behavior are likely to change before the final release.

        This preview release lets you explore new features and functionality in Windows Management Framework 5.0 Preview, and provide feedback before features are finalized.
