The Server Virtualization Management Pack provides enterprise-wide monitoring of Microsoft virtual environments. The Management Pack monitors the health and availability of virtual machines deployed on hosts running Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 and the health and availability of the hosts. The Management Pack also monitors the components of System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007 (VMM), including the VMM server, database server, hosts, library servers, and self-service portals, and provides reporting for VMM.
The Server Virtualization Management Pack provides the same comprehensive monitoring of hosts and virtual machines that is available through the Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, and can be used by organizations that have not yet deployed Virtual Machine Manager.

If you have not already set up a Management Server and configured reporting in Operations Manager 2007, do so before you deploy the Server Virtualization Management Pack:

Before you can import the Server Virtualization Management Pack into Operations Manager, you must import the following Management Packs from the Management Pack Catalog in the Operations Manager 2007 TechCenter:
• Windows Server Library Management Pack (Microsoft.Windows.Server.Library.mp)
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Discovery Management Pack (Microsoft.SQLServer.2005.Discovery.mp)

To download the Management Pack:
1. To download the Management Pack, click the Download button at the top of this page.
2. To extract the Management Pack files to a temporary folder on the Operations Manager server, double-click the Management Pack executable file, and follow the instructions.
To import the Management Pack into Operations Manager, follow the installation instructions included in the Server Virtualization Management Pack Guide for Operations Manager 2007.
