      Welcome to the "Extending Enterprise Applications with Microsoft Outlook Sample" This sample and the associated whitepaper guidance demonstrates an approach to integrating data from an enterprise CRM system with Microsoft Outlook using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the Microsoft Office System, SQL Server 2005 Express, and Web Services. The guidance in this paper originated from Microsoft's Project Elixir, an internal Microsoft IT initiative to integrate critical customer data from Siebel into Microsoft Outlook for use by the Microsoft enterprise field sales force.

      1. Click the Download button on this page to begin the CRM Integration Sample for Outlook Source Setup.
      2. When you start the installation program, you are asked to review an End User License Agreement (EULA). Review the EULA details carefully.
      3. If you accept the EULA, you are prompted to choose the installation path for the samples. The samples are installed in the following directory by default (You can select a different installation directory if you prefer.):
        C:\Program Files\Microsoft\CRM Integration Add-in Sample for Microsoft Outlook Source\
      4. In the installation subdirectory, double-click the solution file. Visual Studio 2005 starts and the CRM Integration Add-in Sample for Microsoft Outlook project opens.
      5. On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
      6. Once the solution has been built, press F5 to run the sample. Running the sample starts Outlook, which loads the add-in.
      7. You can set breakpoints in the source files to debug and explore the operation of the sample.
