Microsoft .NET Framework: The Help viewer used by Books Online requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0. Download one of the following versions of the .NET Framework 2.0:

Windows Installer: Windows Installer 3.0 is required to install SQL Server 2005 Books Online. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 and Windows XP Service Pack 2 both include Windows Installer 3.0. For all other operating systems, you must first download and install Windows Installer 3.0.
Install Instructions
To download the Books Online, begin by installing .NET Framework 2.0. Download one of the versions from the System Requirements section.

Click SSCEBOL-ENU.msi or the samples from the Files In This Download section.

Do one of the following:

To start the installation immediately, click Run.

To save the download to your computer for installation later, click Save.

To cancel the installation, click Cancel.

SQL Server Compact 3.5 is freely redistributable under a redistribution license agreement that requires registration. Independent software vendor (ISV) or solution integrator (SI) shipping applications using SQL Server Compact 3.5 must register for redistribution rights. Registering will help the ISV/ SI in getting information about SQL Server Compact critical security patches and hot fixes. The SQL Server Compact critical security patches and hot fixes have to be applied to the client installations by the ISV/ SI. Prior to installing the released version of SQL Server Compact 3.5 Books Online, uninstall all earlier versions of SQL Server Compact 3.5 Books Online CTP and Beta by using the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

SQL Server Compact 3.5 Books Online and Synchronization Services for ADO.Net Books Online do not ship with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. The Books Online is available as a web download only

Download SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Windows Desktop and SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Windows Mobile Devices

For replicating data between SQL Server Compact 3.5 or SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and SQL Server 2005 (or later versions of SQL Server 2005) install SQL Server Compact 3.5 Server Tools on the IIS server
