Overview
This downloadable document traces the history of project management, beginning in the last half of the 19th century. At that time, companies began to examine and apply scientific principles to labor practices and to industry as a whole. In the 20th century, as technology and industry became increasingly complex, project management began to evolve as an activity distinct from general business management.
