      This is the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 component update to address Availability of the Windows XP SP1 USB 1.1 and 2.0 Update (822603).

      Microsoft has released an update for the USB drivers included in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) that addresses the following issues:

      Power Management

      - You may not be able to use your USB mouse (or wake your computer with the USB mouse) after you suspend or hibernate your computer while you are continuously moving the USB mouse.

      - Your computer automatically restarts instead of resuming from hibernation, or you receive a serious error (STOP 0x000000A in Usbport.sys).

      - Your USB 2.0 controller does not enter the selective suspend mode. Because of this behavior, your processor cannot enter a C3 (Clock-Stopped) power state after you disconnect a device from the USB 2.0 hub that is connected to a USB EHCI controller.

      - Your USB device does not work after you resume from an S1 or S3 power state. When this behavior occurs, your computer may stop responding (hang) when it restarts.

      Plug and Play

      - Your computer may automatically restart, or you may receive a serious error (STOP 0x0000007E in Usbhub.sys) when you use the Safely Remove Hardware utility, and then immediately remove a USB storage device that is connected directly to your computer.

      Hi-Speed Isochronous Devices

      - Your Hi-Speed USB isochronous device uses over 80 percent of the processor (CPU).

      - When you stream video through a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 isochronous camera, other USB devices may stop functioning or perform poorly.

      - A microphone built in to your Hi-Speed USB 2.0 isochronous camera may not work. Contact your hardware vendor for additional details about this behavior.

  • Install Instructions
      Important: This QFE requires Repository look-up may cause incorrect files to be copied (Q811279) be installed prior to this fix.

      1. Download Q822603_XPE_SP2_x86_ENU.exe from this page.
      2. Execute Q822603_XPE_SP2_x86_ENU.exe on a machine with the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 tools installed.
      This package will automatically import updated and new .sld files into the current database specified in Component Database Manager. It will also copy new binaries into the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 QFE Repository folder.

      Some of the .sld files may also require importing new repository objects. The new repositories will be created on the repository root holding the main Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 repository.       After importing this update into your database, add one of the following components to your configuration(s) if you wish to use this update:
