Defense needs in the Middle East are rapidly evolving

Perhaps more than any other region, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has experienced monumental changes in recent years. Opposition uprisings, social revolutions, leadership transitions, and confluence of geopolitical circumstances have resulted in significant increases in military spending and technological investments.

Technology can be a tremendous asset in managing these sweeping and historical changes in the defense landscape. It can provide situational awareness tools for managing extremist threats, combat operations and violent crimes. It can facilitate unprecedented advances in line-of-sight communication and system interoperability. It can produce tools and applications that provide critical information at the touch of a button, faster and more accurately than ever before. And it can do all this from emerging ruggedized devices that ensure continuity and productivity even in the most extreme conditions.

From February 17-21, I’ll be joining some of the world’s most innovative leaders in land, sea and air defense technology at IDEX, the International Defence Exhibition and Conference for the MENA region, held biennially in Abu Dhabi. Visitors from more than 50 countries attended the last conference in 2011, including 400 official delegates and 32 national pavilions.

Our team, along with partners including Twisted Pair, Dell, K2B and GSOC will be showcasing many technology solutions at IDEX that are designed to meet the needs of this rapidly evolving region. During the show we’ll also be featuring a few of these groundbreaking solutions right here at On Safety and Defense, so I hope you’ll continue to check back for more information.

We look forward to seeing you in Abu Dhabi.
