MCT Opportunities at Microsoft Ignite and Microsoft Ignite The Tour

This November, over 26,000 technology implementers, developers, and influencers from around the world, responsible for building and transforming the future of tech, will gather on November 4-8 in Orlando, Florida, with pre-days starting on Sunday, November 3.

With thousands of experts in one place, attendees will get an exclusive look into how technology is solving today’s workplace problems, dive deep into the latest solutions and trends and connect with the other experts who are building, deploying, supporting and managing today’s technology. We’re excited for you to join us! This email contains a preview of the community opportunities you can expect at Microsoft Ignite 2019.

At Microsoft Ignite, you can:

  • Learn: Find new ways to manage your infrastructure and migrate legacy workloads. Dive deep into the latest cloud technologies through exclusive access to the most advanced Microsoft products and services.
  • Connect: Meet the experts who build and support the Microsoft technologies you use every day. Network with peers who are facing the same challenges you are, and connect with technical communities on trends and shared interests.
  • Explore: Discover the latest trends and technologies in productivity, security, infrastructure, and development using interactive, hands-on experiences – such as the new development and architecture center and the Microsoft Mechanics Theater.

Call for Staff

Microsoft Ignite is pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for Community Call for Staff Microsoft Ignite! We welcome members of the MCT, MVP and RD communities to submit applications for the following staffing roles:

  • On-demand Labs + Technology Workshop Proctors
  • MCT Ambassadors
  • Community Zone Staffers

Application for the Call for Staff closes September 20th, notifications will be sent by September 27th.

Available Staffing Roles

Community Call for Staff is open to members of the MCT, MVP and RD communities and include the following roles:

  • Community Proctors: These individuals will support attendees with their questions and challenges in the On-demand Labs and technology workshop areas at Microsoft Ignite.
  • MCT Ambassadors: These individuals will assist with attendee questions about certification training and testing at Microsoft Ignite.
  • Community Zone Staffers: These individuals will meet and chat with attendees from all over the world by supporting the expo floor booth in the Community Zone.

What you will get if selected to staff

Those who are successfully selected for any one of these staffing roles will be offered:

  • One full conference pass to Microsoft Ignite
  • No additional fees or accommodations will be provided for staffer roles

Eligibility and Guidelines

  • Microsoft Ignite Community Call for Staff is open only to the following Microsoft Communities: MVP, MCT, RD. Microsoft employees are exempt from this process.
  • Community classification must be valid and active at the time of submission through week of Microsoft Ignite. Immediate disqualification and application removal if classification requirement is not met.
  • One Full Conference Pass provided per accepted individual only
  • No further compensation will be provided. Travel and hotel fees are not included for Microsoft Ignite Community Staffing roles
  • All accepted Community Staffers will be expected to work a minimum of 16 hours throughout the week of Microsoft Ignite.

Community Timeline

  • September 6th – Call for Staff opens
  • September 20th – Call for Staff closes
  • September 27th – Call for Staff notification (accepted and declined) sent

We’re excited to announce that Microsoft Ignite The Tour is kicking off in November following Microsoft Ignite in Orlando, Florida. Microsoft Ignite The Tour will be visiting an impressive 30 cities to bring the Microsoft Ignite experience to developers and tech professionals around the globe!

We are excited to share the variety of opportunities for involvement by the MVP, RD, Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) communities across Microsoft Ignite The Tour, which are outlined below.

  • Call for Speakers (Closed): Opportunity for the community to partner with Microsoft staff to learn and deliver standardized content as part of the core Azure, Microsoft 365, and Business Applications learning path modules. The call for speakers has now closed.
  • Call for Community Content (Open): In each city we’ll be accepting original content from the community.
  • Call for Staffing: This year we have several opportunities to strengthen our MVP, RD and MCT presence at this event. Currently, we are working diligently to finalize all our staffing opportunities and how we can best utilize your expertise. These roles could consist of being a proctor in a workshop, running a demo station, or being an expert in the Microsoft Showcase area. We also wish for you to still have a balanced experience with the opportunity to attend sessions as well. Staffing information is coming soon.

Community Call for Content

We’re excited to announce the Community Call for Content for Microsoft Ignite The Tour is now open exclusively to the MVP, RD, Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCT) and Windows Insider MVP community members! We’ll be accepting original content from you for the entire 30-city tour.

We are seeking IT implementer and developer content across:

  • 15-minute Community theater sessions
  • 45-minute Breakout sessions

We’re looking for the following content:

  • Include community best practices, lessons learned and customer stories where possible.
  • What’s relevant and topical within each local region.
  • Provide a compelling title and abstract with clear learning objectives to set attendee expectations on what they can gain from your session.
  • Provide the title and abstract in English AND the local language for the following cities (Tokyo, Beijing, São Paulo, Shenzhen, Seoul, Osaka, Taipei, Shanghai and Mexico City) to demonstrate you can deliver the session in local language.

Travel & Expenses

Those who are successfully selected for any one or more of these roles will be offered:

  • A maximum stay of up to three (3) nights within Microsoft’s hotel room block for speakers for the event, or in an area hotel not to exceed $200/night, inclusive of all taxes. Microsoft will only cover actual expenses incurred for the daily room rate and room tax.
  • Domestic or travel within the US and Europe: A total amount not to exceed six hundred U.S. dollars (600.00 USD) for reasonable and actual airfare expenses. Microsoft will only cover economy travel.
  • International (not from within the US or Europe): A total amount not to exceed two thousand U.S. dollars (2,000.00 USD) for reasonable and actual airfare expenses. Microsoft will only cover economy travel.

Items not covered:

Seat/flight upgrades, meals, ground transportation, broadband, telephony, bag/luggage fees, parking, car hire, gas, mileage for gas, any personal expenses, tips and gratuities.

Speaker fees will not be offered as compensation for speaking at Microsoft Ignite The Tour as part of this call for speakers and future call for content and staffing.
