  • great phone, wireless charging and updateable to windows 10!

    Overall Rating

I have loved this phone since I got it 3 years ago so I could have a phone when I went overseas. I have a plastic quick stand cover that allow hands free viewing of news feeds etc and have dropped the phone more time than I can count without damage. Yes, the charging port is weak but the wireless charging is a better option for me anyway. I am so impressed that this phone has and will continue to take all Microsoft updates including the coming windows 10. I am not a fan of a lot of apps but have been able to find everything I wanted or needed. I highly recommend this phone based on my experience. Best Windows phone ever!

I love this phone. The camera, size and ease of use a phenomenal, my young daughter uses it with no issues at all, however it lacks some mainstream apps and the battery will die quickly when streaming lots of video.

I really like the size of this phone. I ca reach the screen without having to stretch my fingers. The camera takes amazing photos, better than the LG G3! I takes better photos of my cat than it does people. I can record 1080p HD movie on this Nokia. It's very fast when your using it, but it takes 42 seconds to boot up. My LG Ally with 256 MB of RAM is 28 seconds faster than this phone! But the 1.5 GHZ and the 1GB of RAM make this the best phone I have had. The double tap to wake is a killer function on this awesome phone, but you have to enable it in the settings. The front facing camera takes better photos the the LG L70 does with the main camera. It has killer cameras. But the Sony Carl Zeiss lense is what makes it so good. Sony makes awesome camera. This is a good buy for the Camera guy and the gaming kid, but not so good for your 4K movie watching person. The 480x800 screen is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. A good overall phone

I love my Nokia Lumia 822. I've had it for 2 years. It's easy to use, has great screen resolution, the customizable tiles are awesome, and the camera has worked well for me. I've dropped it several times, and it still works like a charm! I do have a case and screen protector, which has probably helped. I love the Kids Corner feature. The only thing I don't like and is a deal-breaker for me, is the lack of Brand apps. I can't access my online banking apps or my fitbit app, just to name a few. Most apps are only for Apple and Android, so I'll be switching soon. One other thing is that I wish I could sync it with my Google account and Google search engine instead of Windows/Microsoft and Bing.

first let me say that I love the nokia Lumia 822 and Microsoft but it is a bittersweet relationship between this phone and myself, I am on my third nokia Lumia 822 yes I said that correctly my third, the first two had battery issues now my screen shattered from being dropped from about 7 inches off the ground I can say this is ridiculous I love how the phone runs and is easy to use I've had this model for about two or three years but I am currently debating whether to give up on windows and nokia completely

  • Ok phone, a little dated and latest OS update is lousy on the 822

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I've had this phone for almost 2 years. No real complaints other than the slowness of new apps that are popular on other platforms. My biggest gripe is the Nokia Denim update. Many of the features no longer work correctly. I can't launch camera from button must open with tile, cannot get pictures to upload to messages, many hangups in applications that did not exist prior to the update. Cortina works but not impressed. sometimes cant open the results that are returned especially images.

  • Great option for Verizon WP8 users

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

My Lumia 822 came to me on the coattails of the HTC Trophy, which in itself was a great little WP7 phone 'back in the day'. Even though my employer offered me any phone in the Verizon portfolio, I stuck with Windows Phone. I didn't make my decision lightly, however. WP7 was a dated system that was quickly losing what little ground it started with going up against Android and iOS at the time. WP8 promised much more and in the end, kept me coming back for more. Coming from the original rewrite of the Windows Phone platform on the HTC Trophy, the Lumia 822 was an great step up in all aspects. A bit on the heavier side, the soft, rounded edges help ease the holding process. Despite being on the smaller side these days, the 4.3" AMOLED screen has great color, viewing angles, and sunlight readability. Battery life is merely average. I couldn't make it through much more than half a work day without grabbing my charger. A big plus the 822 has is the capability to charge wireless using a Qi wireless charger and the optional wireless charging back cover. I took full advantage of this feature and it works great. While it may not be at the top of everyone's Christmas list given its age and slight chubbiness (Ho Ho Ho?), I would recommend this to a Verizon user looking for something cheap and easy to use, while not needing the very latest and greatest features. Well done, Nokia!

Tiles allow you to set the size for things that are important to you, such as family members phone numbers, appt, etc. Don't need glasses to see some samll icon. Other apps are all by the alphabet.

  • I hate this phone

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I got this phone a little over a year ago because the sales guy said it would be "basic but reliable," and now I'm kicking myself for not getting an iPhone like all of my friends told me to. The apps are counterintuitive and sometimes barely functional (did they test this phone at all before they started selling it??), and now that the warranty has expired, the phone has stopped recognizing its charger about 75% of the time, so it's always on low battery and threatening to turn itself off. I hate this phone and would never recommend it.

  • Lumia 822 is great

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I have the 822 as personal phone and HTC 8X as a work phone. The Lumia 822 is so much better on a day to day basis. Removable battery, SD card expansion make a huge difference in mid- range phones. Unfortunately, I don't currently see a compelling replacement option out in the market. Note to Microsoft-Apple doesn't allow carriers to control software updates, why do you? I participate in the developer program, but Verizon still blocks firmware for unreasonable lengths of time.
