How do I resolve the “conflicting applications” error when starting one of my preinstalled applications?

If you have recently updated the Nokia Browser or any other preinstalled application on your Nokia Series 40 or Asha device and now it fails to start with a “Conflicting applications!” error message, you can use the Software Recovery Tool to recover your phone and get all applications working again.

Note! Using the software recovery tool will erase all personal content from your phone so before you proceed please make sure to take a backup of all your personal date and have it stored safely outside your phone memory.

Step 1. Download and install Software Recovery Tool to your computer (available for Windows 7, or newer). If possible, make sure that your phone is fully charged.

Step 2. Start Software Recovery Tool, and connect your phone to your computer with a compatible USB cable. If prompted, select the correct USB mode on your phone: Nokia Suite or Modem.

Step 3. Follow the instructions shown on the tool. The latest version of your phone software will be installed, and your phone will restored back to the factory settings. This process may take some time depending on your internet connection, and you cannot use your phone during the installation.
