Just two years ago, unemployment in the United Kingdom was approaching 2.5 million, and 77% of the existing jobs required digital skills. Microsoft worked with partners to launch Britain Works in September 2009 with a goal of helping 500,000 people get jobs through IT skills training by 2012.

The Microsoft IT Training & Certification Employability Project was launched four ago by Egypt’s (MCIT) in an effort to support the country’s IT professionals, technology adoption and employment. The second phase of the program kicked off in 2010 and was designed to train 6,000 new graduates over a period of 3 years, generating highly skilled IT professionals on Microsoft technologies.

Microsoft has partnered with NetHope to grow the next generation of leaders in Technology and IT in the developing world. Through the NetHope Academy, a six month intern program was developed to help unemployed young people get work experience, technical competencies and soft skills training needed to become full time employed IT professionals.
