New Microsoft Supported Employment video released: 118 Stories and Counting

On August 31, 2015, a new Microsoft RE&F Supported Employment video, entitled 118 Stories and Counting, was released. The video depicts a day in the life of four supported employees, highlighting their inspirational attitudes and exceptional work ethic. The video was produced by Mark George with CBRE and the Compass AV team and is now available on the Microsoft YouTube channel.

On August 5, 2015, the City of Seattle hosted its quarterly Supported Employment consortium, which involved representatives and employees from supported employment initiatives across Washington state. The RE&F Microsoft Supported Employment team participated and shared best practices as well as updates on the overall program.

Supported Employment program participates in Unified Relay for the Special Olympics

On July 2, the Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America passed through the Microsoft Commons Playfield, nearing the end of its 46-day ceremony across the United States. Over 10,000 individuals were involved in carrying the torch from the East Coast to the West Coast as it nears its final destination: the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles.

On June 24, 2015, Microsoft RE&F was presented with the National APSE (Association of People Supporting Employment First) award, a tremendous honor and acknowledgement of the Supported Employment Program’s success and commitment in making integrated employment a reality for individuals with disabilities. This award reflects directly on our agency and vendor partners, who continue to provide outstanding coaching and management support to our exceptional supported employees.

Supported Employment program participates in Community Summit

From June 16 to 18, the third annual Community Summit was held in Wenatchee, Washington. Members of the Supported Employment community gathered from all over the state and country to participate in a series of sessions based on three underlying themes: (1) Imagine, Engage, Empower; (2) Local & Global; and (3) Making it Happen! Washington Governor Jay Inslee attended and presented the opening address, sharing with attendees his praises, goals, and aspirations for the Supported Employment workforce and community.
