Program requirements and benefits

The Microsoft Supplier Program (MSP) has specific requirements that suppliers must meet in order to participate. Suppliers are also evaluated against certain Microsoft business objectives. Because of these objectives, not every supplier that is referred to the program and meets the basic requirements will be admitted.

Program requirements

To be part of the program, suppliers must meet the requirements outlined here.

To be considered for and maintain membership with the MSP:

A supplier must have approval by the Microsoft Procurement organization

A supplier must have signed originals, on file with Microsoft, of the following documents:

  • A Microsoft Master Services Agreement

    • The MSA for Company Code 1010 Suppliers must contain Microsoft’s Standard Payment Terms (2% 10 Net 60)

    • Per the MSA, Microsoft expects all suppliers to engage Microsoft using the latest and preferred technology including using Microsoft’s electronic invoicing system MS Invoice, where available

  • A Microsoft Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) (Independent of the Master Services Agreement)

A supplier must be in good standing with other Microsoft Supplier programs such as but not limited to the:

  • Supplier Security & Privacy Assurance Program (SSPA) compliance (formerly, Vendor Privacy Assurance Program compliance)

  • Anti-Corruption Due Diligence Program

  • Responsible Sourcing Program

  • Supplier Screening Program

A supplier must maintain:

  • At least one (1) primary category based on MS Procurement’s Enterprise Class Sourcing verification, as appropriate

  • Stable financial health

  • Spend Thresholds ($500K US; $5K Intl)

    • Spend requirement does not include Certified Diverse Suppliers

  • An average Customer Satisfaction Rating of 3.0 (based on Microsoft’s internal five-point feedback solution)

Program benefits

When a supplier joins the Microsoft Supplier Program, the supplier becomes eligible for program benefits, which Microsoft may modify over time. The following table outlines the current MSP benefits.

Through the MSP Excellence Awards Program, Microsoft annually recognizes superior performance, exemplary service, and innovation by suppliers that demonstrate what it means to be a preferred supplier at Microsoft. The purpose of the MSP is to build long-term relationships with a select group of strategic suppliers who create long-term value for Microsoft.

Winners of the 2017 MSP Excellence Awards were nominated by employees of Microsoft in various business units, MSP suppliers, and Microsoft Procurement Professionals. An extensive panel of Microsoft employees and external judges selects all final awardees. Award winners were based on excellence in a number of areas, including quality, value, service, and innovation.

In 2017, Microsoft issued six MSP Excellence Awards to key suppliers whose performance over the past year demonstrated exceptional commitment and service.

Winners were announced in three categories: Supplier Diversity; Impact Sourcing Leadership; and Supplier of the Year: Large, Medium-Size, and Small suppliers. Following are the 2017 winners and an overview of their excellent service delivery:

Revel Consulting: recipient of the 2017 Supplier Diversity Award

Orion Industries: recipient of the 2017 Impact Sourcing Leadership Award

Orion Industries is a social enterprise with a mission of helping those with barriers to employment. Orion uses operations in its Aerospace manufacturing division and Contact Center Services division as platforms to teach people job skills through mentoring and internship programs. Orion’s Training & Employment division supports individuals in achieving their goals through job placement and job retention services.

Orion is being recognized for establishing the Consumer Disability Answer Desk supporting customers utilizing American Sign Language via live video chat.
