Microsoft Virtualization and Private Cloud technologies, which include Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Hyper-V and System Center, deliver new options to you for flexibly and efficiently deploying SQL Server 2012. Customers can experience these benefits without sacrificing high levels of performance and scalability.

High Performance and Scalability

ESG Labs conducted 3rd party testing of Hyper-V running Microsoft SQL Server 2012. The performance, scalability, and low overhead of Hyper-V can be used to reduce costs and improve the manageability, flexibility, and availability of consolidated SQL applications.
  • SQL Server showed performance of a single VM within 88% of a physical server and scaling to 2,090 OLTP transactions per second.
  • Performance scaled with low response times as SQL Server application workloads were consolidated into multiple VMs on a single physical server.
