System Center Advisor alerts you when it detects that your servers are running in a state that has been identified as sub-optimal based on comparison with Microsoft’s best practices pooled across many data sources. Alerts are generated for unpatched, misconfigured, at risk of data loss or unsupported conditions.
System Center Advisor currently provides support for SQL Server, Windows Server, SharePoint Server, Exchange Server, and Lync Server.
Following installation of on-premise agents, System Center Advisor is managed through a web-based portal backed by a Windows Azure service. Multiple servers can be added and status inspected from the portal.
System Center Advisor can be customized to send regular emails summarizing both warning and severe alerts for all monitored servers.
System Center Advisor enables IT Professionals to investigate the cause of problematic configurations using historical data that shows when various parameters were changed.
System Center Advisor imposes the same low overheads on server performance as seen in Operations Manager, typically less than 1% CPU, less than 75Mb memory with a typical upload of around 100kB per server per day.
System Center Advisor only has visibility into servers with agents deployed on them. These agents do not send any customer data, only diagnostic data such as configuration settings and error logs. You can close your account at any time and have your data removed. Five days of uploads are archived on-premises for audit trail purposes and to enable inspection of the data.
System Center Advisor comes with an internet gateway to enable agents on private networks to communicate with the System Center Advisor service.
