How to use BitLocker to encrypt hard drives in Windows 8

BitLocker is included in Windows 8 to provide data protection when used with TPM v1.2. On computers that do not have TPM v1.2, you can still use BitLocker to encrypt the Windows OS drive. For standalone users, we can use Windows Explorer, Control Panel applet, manage-bde command line interface or Windows PowerShell cmdlets. For SMB, we can use the scripting method or deploy BitLocker with MDT2012.
