Microsoft Honored for Ongoing Support of Accessibility

Microsoft was honored with a plaque for being a "Partner" level sponsor for the 21st National Business & Disability Council Annual Conference. This level of sponsorship is the highest level of support that a company can give. As the plaque reads, we recognize Microsoft for "leading the business community in realizing the benefits of diversity."

The National Business & Disability Council is one of the leading national resources on all issues related to the successful employment and integration of individuals with disabilities into America's workforce. Throughout its history, the Council has encouraged businesses to view people with disabilities simply as people. NBDC is an affiliate of the National Center for Disability Services, an internationally renowned organization promoting the interests of people with disabilities through education, research and employment.

"These seminars are an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and respond to a wide variety of issues that affect the more than 54 million people with disabilities in America," said Edmund L. Cortez, National Center for Disability Services President and CEO. "It also offers us a chance to recognize both individual and corporate achievements in integrating persons with disabilities into our country's workforce."

The NBDC held its annual national conference highlighting employment and marketing issues that affect people with disabilities October 7-9 at the Booz Allen & Hamilton Inc., corporate headquarters in McLean, VA. The event included three days of seminars and an awards dinner at the US Senate Russell Office Building, honoring corporations and individuals throughout the country for their accomplishments. Representatives from a cross-section of leading industries discussed their products and services to meet the needs of all people with disabilities.
