Turning High Contrast On and Off

High contrast color schemes can make the screen easier to view for some users by heightening screen contrast with alternative color combinations and font sizes.

1 On the Start menu:
  • Point to Settings.
  • Select Control Panel.
Display the Start menu by pressing CTRL+ESC (or the Windows logo key.)
  • Move to Settings by pressing S.
  • Select Control Panel by pressing C.
2 In Control Panel:
  • Double-click Accessibility Options.
In Control Panel:
  • Select the Accessibility Options icon by using the arrow keys.
  • Press ENTER.
3 In the Accessibility Options dialog box:
  • Select the Display tab.
In the Accessibility Options dialog box:
  • Select the Display tab by holding down the CTRL key and pressing the TAB key twice.
4 On the Display tab:
  • To turn on High Contrast, select the Use High Contrast check box.
  •    OR

  • To turn off High Contrast, clear the Use High Contrast check box.
  • Select OK.
On the Display tab:
  • To turn on High ontrast, select the Use High Contrast check box by pressing ALT+U.
  •    OR

  • To turn off High Contrast, clear the Use High Contrast check box by pressing ALT+U.
  • Press ENTER.
5 To close Control Panel:
  • On the File menu, select Close.
To close Control Panel:
  • Press ALT+F, C.
