Displaying and Adjusting Pointer Trails

To make the mouse pointer more visible on screen you can choose the "Pointer Trails" option. You can access this feature by selecting the Mouse icon in Control Panel and then choosing the Motion tab in Mouse Properties.

1 On the Start menu:
  • Point to Settings.
  • Click Control Panel.
Display the Start menu by pressing CTRL+ESC (or the Windows logo key).
  • Move to Settings by pressing S.
  • Select Control Panel by pressing C.
2 In Control Panel:
  • Double-click the Mouse icon.
If the focus is not in Control Panel:
  • Press TAB.
  • Move to the Mouse icon by using the arrow keys.
  • Press ENTER.
3 In the Mouse Properties dialog box:
  • Click the Motion tab.
In the Mouse Properties dialog box, to move to the Window Setup tab:
  • Move to the Motion tab by pressing the RIGHT ARROW key.
4 On the Motion tab, under Pointer Trail:
  • Select the Show pointer trails check box to turn on this option.
On the Motion tab, under Pointer Trail:
  • Move to the Show pointer trails check box by pressing ALT+T.
  • To select the check box, press the SPACEBAR.
5 To adjust the length of the pointer trails:
  • Click on the slider and move it left to shorten the pointer trail, or right to make it longer.
To adjust the length of the pointer trails:
  • Move to the slider by pressing TAB.
  • Then press the LEFT ARROW key to make the trail shorter, or the RIGHT ARROW key to maker it longer.
6 Click OK. Press ENTER.
