Rose Clements

Human Resources Director, Microsoft Australia

In her role as human resources director for Microsoft Australia, Rose is responsible for determining and supporting execution of the people strategy held by the company in Australia. In her role, Rose develops and deploys human resource strategies and culture development programs within the company, and leads the company in areas such as recruitment, talent management, performance optimization, organizational development and compensation and benefits.

Rose was recently named “2012 Australian HR Director of the Year” at the Human Capital awards and also received the prestigious “David Ulrich HR Leader of the Year” award from the Australian Human Resources Institute in the same year. Furthermore, over the past six years Rose has lead Microsoft Australia to receive numerous awards including Hewitt’s “Best of the Best” Employer in 2009 & 2011; Hewitt’s Best Employer Accreditation in 2007; Diversity@Work national awards for Work/Life Balance and Women in Leadership and EOWA Employer of Choice in successive years.

In light of Rose’s success she often shares “The Microsoft HR story” at conferences and speaking engagements. Rose is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development (Chartered MIPD) London, UK, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Strategic Human Resource Management program. Additionally, Rose is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and a member of AHRI’s National Presidents Forum.

Rose joined Microsoft in 2006 from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she held various HR leadership roles across Perth and Sydney during nine years’ of service. Prior to this, Rose spent eight years with ACNielsen in Oxford, England, in a variety of human resources and quality management roles.

Originally from New Zealand, Rose holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology and Computer Science) from the University of Waikato, New Zealand. She now lives in Pymble, Sydney, with her husband John and two children.
