Patagonia Improves Communications with Hosted Solution
Patagonia, a global provider of outdoor apparel and gear wanted a new solution for unified communications to help employees around the world work better together. The IT staff also needed to upgrade its aging messaging solution. When the company heard about the next-generation online services from Microsoft, it decided to evaluate Microsoft Office 365, which includes the latest version of the Microsoft Office Professional Plus desktop suite. Based on a pilot test of Office 365, Patagonia expects employees to communicate more effectively and make better design decisions. Patagonia also believes Office 365 will help it reduce IT costs, improve business continuity, and support its environmental initiatives.
hhpberlin on Office 365
hhpberlin is one of the largest fire-safety consultancies in the world. The IT staff previously deployed Microsoft Office 2010 and several 2010 Microsoft server applications to help its employees improve communication and collaboration. As the company grew, it wanted to examine if cloud-based services would help reduce costs while supporting growth and employee productivity. hhpberlin joined the Microsoft Office 365 Rapid Deployment Program to test the online services, including Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft Lync Online. After a short pilot, it decided to purchase a Microsoft Office 365 subscription license plan, which includes the Microsoft Office Professional Plus desktop suite. With Office 365, the company expects to reduce IT costs by 36 percent and improve reliability as it continues to grow.
Boeing Takes to the Cloud with a Solution to Market its Best-Selling Airplane
The Boeing 737 is the best-selling airplane in aviation history. With new 737 models continually being developed for the product line, Boeing wanted to create exciting new ways of marketing the aircraft to prospective customers. It turned to Microsoft and Wire Stone , a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner , to create a tool that it calls "Boeing 737 Explained." Based on thousands of high-resolution photographs that are stitched together to create a seamless, immersive presentation, Boeing 737 Explained provides a rich, compelling way for customers to view and understand the plane without needing to actually stand next to one. The tool runs on Windows 7 and is hosted on the Windows Azure cloud platform, using Microsoft Silverlight and Windows Touch technologies, providing users with a dynamic experience, whether viewing it with Microsoft KinectB on a cinema-size screen or Windows Phone.
