Learning Without Walls

FAST University offers you three ways to Learn Without Walls over the Internet in the comfort and convenience of your own office:

  • Live Virtual Classes offer the same great instructors and course materials from FAST University instructor-led classroom learning, but are conducted via the Internet. Guided virtual labs are included with live virtual classes.

  • Recorded Virtual Classes are virtual classroom playbacks ideal for students who require maximum flexibility in their learning environment. Virtual labs are included with email support from FAST University instructors.

  • Virtual Labs provide you with time to practice installing, configuring, and customizing FAST solutions. Email support from FAST University instructors is included with virtual labs.

Learning Without Walls provides the flexibility to take FAST University instructor-led courses at your desktop, without the need or expense of travel. When you register for a Learning Without Walls live or recorded virtual class, the course materials are shipped to you and a remote server running FAST products and course software is configured for your lab exercises. FAST University instructors answer questions throughout live virtual classes and offer guidance during lab exercises.

In recorded virtual classes, you view instructor-led recorded lectures and demonstrations, then break for lab exercises, and finally answer review questions to ensure your understanding. The cycle repeats for each module of the course. At any point, if you have a question, you will have access to a special email address that is monitored by FAST University instructors. Learning Without Walls enables you to pause the course or repeat sections as often as you like, anytime, anywhere.

Here are some of the courses that are available in the Learning Without Walls program:

  • FAST ESP: Managing the Search Experience

  • FAST ESP: System Administration and Deployment

  • FAST ESP: Fundamentals of Developing Search Applications

  • FAST ESP: Advanced Customization of Search Applications

  • FAST ESP Refresher: Developing Search Applications

  • Understanding the Differences Between FDS 4.x and ESP 5.3

Learning Without Walls Virtual Labs provide you with time to practice installing, configuring, and customizing FAST solutions. A remote server will be available for you to practice, learn, and test new ideas. We recommend this option for students that have recently completed a FAST University course and need time to practice what they learned on a remote lab system configured with FAST products.
