BBC Worldwide
BBC Worldwide works with substantial amounts of unstructured information and needs an effective search solution that easily integrates with existing technology. The Microsoft search solution for enterprises combines the strengths of Microsoft Windows Desktop Search and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, and provides a single point of entry and user interface on the desktop task bar, which helps BBC employees quickly and easily find and share information whether file, e-mail, or intranet-based.
Chevron
Using the Microsoft Office system, Chevron plans to create a new, enterprise-wide content management system and integrated collaboration environment. A centralized enterprise portal created with Office SharePoint Server 2007 will serve as a central document repository where all information can be stored and managed universally, and offline viewing capabilities will provide remote workers with access to terabytes of data even when working in areas with limited connectivity.
Del Monte Foods
Del Monte Foods worked with SourceCode Technology Holdings to deploy a fully automated capital request approval process based on the SourceCode K2.net workflow solution. The solution, which included Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and the Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 information-gathering program, also provided an auditable, searchable data record that has increased security and improved efficiency overall.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car
To increase manageability and collaboration, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is implementing a new intranet portal, based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Windows Vista, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. The advanced search folder technology and integrated search capability are expected to help boost efficiency, and the fact that the search functionality includes e-mail messages is a particularly valuable time saver and productivity enhancement.
HP
Hewlett Packard (HP) is using Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to provide a collaborative work environment that makes information shareable and easily discoverable for internal employees, partners, and customers. By providing enterprise-wide services such as search and personal sites from one central location for consumption in multiple portal farms, HP can consolidate three regional network hubs and maximize its internal intellectual capital.
Mary Kay
When Mary Kay Inc. upgraded its U.S. portal to Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2007, the context indexing and search platform functionality of the new intranet search engine immediately enhanced day-to-day business operations. Because Office SharePoint Server 2007 provides highly granular permission-based indexing and document control, and advanced multilingual search capabilities, the intranet will eventually be part of an effort to integrate IT across regional offices and provide advanced search functions to thousands of international users.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools
The fourth-largest public school district in the United States, Miami-Dade County Public Schools used Microsoft technologies to build a Web-based portal as a single point of access for relevant information, services, and applications. To alleviate information overload, users will be able to take advantage of extensive search capabilities to quickly and easily find the information that they need.
