Software Assurance e-learning offers self-paced, interactive training that is delivered through the Internet or intranet and is designed for end users and IT professionals. Use e-learning training to:
Help employees become more productive with Microsoft software.
Prepare employees for new product implementations.
Get flexible, self-paced training options without impacting your budget.
E-learning options from Software Assurance entitle organizations to receive select Microsoft e-learning courses for a specific number of users. Every qualifying license (such as those for Microsoft Office Word or Windows 7) that is covered by Software Assurance provides one person in your organization with access to e-learning courses for that product. For details, refer to the Microsoft Product List for Volume Licensing.
E-learning from Software Assurance is divided into three categories:
Application—Microsoft Office 2010, Office 2007, Office 2003, and other products
System—Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and other products
Server—Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft BizTalk Server, and other products
Note If the Software Assurance e-learning benefit does not offer the technical courses that meet your organization’s needs, you can purchase additional courses at a discount under your Microsoft Volume Licensing agreement.
System and application courses are offered in Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
Server courses are offered in English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.
How to activate
Your organization's Software Assurance benefits manager activates the Software Assurance e-learning benefit through the Microsoft Volume Licensing Services site.
The benefits manager gives you an access code so that you can begin training. You receive up to three codes— one for each of the three e-learning categories: application, system, and server.
The right to access the Software Assurance e-learning benefit expires with your Software Assurance coverage. If you start a course before the contract expires, you have one year to complete it, regardless of your contract expiration date.
Software Assurance training vouchers (IT classroom training)
Software Assurance training vouchers provide in-depth technical classroom training for IT professionals and developers. These courses are taught by Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs) at Microsoft Learning partner locations and are developed by Microsoft experts to help your IT staff deploy, manage, and support new software.
Eligible courses:
Ineligible courses:
Those created for information workers—for example, Microsoft Office Excel, Office Word, and Office PowerPoint
Hands-on labs, first-look clinics, or beta courses
You will receive a number of training days based on the amount of qualifying Microsoft Office and/or Windows software licenses that are covered by Software Assurance. To be eligible for training vouchers, you must have a minimum number of licenses covered by Software Assurance; this number varies by licensing program.
How to activate
Your organization's Software Assurance benefits manager activates training vouchers through the Microsoft Volume Licensing Services site.
The benefits manager then assigns training days and associated training vouchers to designated individuals.
The right to access training vouchers expires with your Software Assurance coverage. If you create a training voucher before your Software Assurance coverage expires, the voucher remains valid for 180 days after the date it was created.
