By the year 2025, there will be nearly five billion internet users connected to billions of devices, bringing profound change. How will societies respond, and how will they provide security in this new world?

A new report from Microsoft, Cyberspace 2025: Today's decisions, Tomorrow's Terrain attempts to look over the horizon and see beyond technical trends to anticipate future catalysts for change. Cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data and cybersecurity loom large on today's- and tomorrow's agenda.

But what are the transformative elements that will define the future terrain of cyberspace? What are the tectonic themes that will impact cyberspace and cybersecurity?
