For the second year Microsoft Research in Cambridge opened its doors to an audience of press, academics, industry and policymakers for an event called “Enabling Innovation Through Research”.
Managing Director Andrew Herbert welcomed the delegates with a keynote speech highlighting work on cloud computing, natural interfaces and programmes that use inference to learn from data. Andrew started by giving an overview of Microsoft’s laboratory in Cambridge before giving a number of example of research projects from this lab which led to some key products.
After over 10 year at Microsoft I’ve heard it many times but if you have not visited this lab, I’m sure you’ll find this presentation fascinating. The full video is about 50 minutes long but here is a quick preview:
