Event Overview

In this first installment of our two-part series, we discuss how to deploy Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, specifically in an environment where Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 is already installed. We begin by answering the question: How does System Center Configuration Manager help me stay on top of my environment, and get, or stay, secure? We highlight changes in site deployment and site system roles. We also look at performance and security improvements. After determining that an upgrade to System Center Configuration Manager can benefit your organization, the next question is: What do you need to do to plan to upgrade your environment? In this session, we answer this question, including upgrade requirements and interoperability issues between System Center Configuration Manager and Systems Management Server 2003. Upgrading your existing deployment includes planning the upgrade, addressing possible issues, and ensuring that prerequisites are in place. We look at ways to upgrade the different types of sites. In addition, we discuss both in-place and side-by-side upgrades and when to use each type of upgrade.
