TechNet Webcast: Understanding Group Policy (Part 1 of 3) (Level 200)Group Policy in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 has almost 1,000 configurable settings. In this first webcast in a three-part series, we begin by guiding you through the terms and concepts used in the Group Policy environment. We explain what Group Policy is and the benefits it offers, what Group Policy Objects (GPOs) are, and how GPOs are applied to users and computers. We also describe how to create test and staging environments and show you how to use the two most common tools available to manage Group Policy, the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) and the Group Policy Object Editor. Presenter John Baker, TechNet Presenter, Microsoft Corporation John Baker started in Microsoft Consulting Services as an infrastructure consultant. John has presented at more than 100 TechNet events and delivered a variety of webcasts on Microsoft management products and technologies, including Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, SQL Server 2005, and Active Directory and Group Policy in Microsoft Windows Server 2003. As an IT professional, John loves to be proficient in the latest products and technologies, which can be a major challenge. To keep his skills current, he recently completed the Windows Server 2003 MCSE upgrade certification and two security exams.
