This webcast is targeted at programmers with Microsoft .NET and C# or Microsoft Visual Basic .NET experience. The goal is to provide an overview of creating forms-based applications in Microsoft Silverlight 2, the new rich Internet applications platform. Topics we cover include:
All participants are strongly encouraged to obtain the required software prior to the webcast. After installing Visual Studio 2008 or Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008, please go to the Silverlight Get Started page and download and install Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Expression Blend 2, Expression Blend 2 SP1, and the Silverlight Toolkit—numbers 1, 2, and 4 in the Get Started Box. If you are totally new to Silverlight programming, you should also read this tutorial before attending the webcast. Presenter Jesse Liberty, Senior Program Manager, Microsoft Corporation Jesse Liberty, Silverlight Geek, is a developer-community liaison for the Microsoft Silverlight.net site. His areas of interest include user experience (UX), control development, cloud computing, Live Mesh, data services, cross-platform programming, cross-language programming, hyper-video, and building strong communication between Microsoft and software developers. Jesse is a monthly guest on the Sparkling Client podcast, his blog is a required resource for Microsoft Silverlight programmers, and he is the author of two dozen books, including Programming .NET 3.5 (O'Reilly, 2008), Learning ASP.NET with AJAX (O'Reilly, 2008), and the forthcoming Programming Silverlight (O'Reilly). His twenty years of programming experience include stints as a distinguished software engineer at AT&T, vice-president of human-computer interaction at Citibank, and software architect at PBS/Learning Link.
