Kaspersky Lab

Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 protects users of Microsoft Exchange servers on a corporate network from malicious programs and spam. The product is a modular solution. The Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam modules are installed selectively, depending on the configuration of the protection system and Exchange Server roles. The Anti-Virus module can be installed and runs on Edge, Hub, and Mailbox Exchange Server roles. It provides antivirus scanning of incoming and outgoing messages, as well as messages stored in mailboxes and public folders on the server. The module is based on the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Engine. Depending on the type of antivirus database used, the solution can protect not only against viruses, but also against other threats, including potentially hostile programs. The Anti-Spam module can be installed and runs on Edge and Hub Exchange Server roles. The application scans all messages transferred to the Exchange Server via the SMTP protocol for spam attributes, filtering messages on the basis of their formal attributes (email and IP addresses, message sizes, and message headers), and analyzing message content and attachments using intelligent technologies, including graphical signatures that help detect spam in the form of images. The outbreak prevention system not only provides notifications of mass virus and spam mailings, but also automatically performs actions required to prevent escalation of the problem. The application enables administrators to “fine-tune” its parameters depending on the corporate security policy and hardware capabilities, including detection of standard or extended threats, adjustment of the application’s performance depending on the message traffic, exclusion of certain file types from scanning, etc.
