nCipher solutions meet the challenge of deploying strong cryptography across the extended enterprise, strengthening, unifying and enforcing the security controls deployed for identity management, data protection and regulatory compliance.
Increasingly, organizations are turning to cryptography to establish identity, provide data confidentiality, prove data integrity and build trust. Although effectively unbreakable, the challenge is to deploy cryptographic security in a way that avoids the performance, management and security pitfalls that have historically been associated with its use. nCipher's hardware security modules allow organizations to go beyond software grade protection to secure encryption and signing keys, and accelerate cryptographic operations all within a unified and scalable key management framework.
Exchange 2007 Client Access Server (CAS) is an important part of Microsoft Exchange deployments. Many organizations implement CAS to allow their users to have remote access to email, and in order to deliver an acceptable level of security for remote access it is necessary to enable TLS. Deploying nCipher’s tamper-resistant hardware protects the critical TLS cryptographic keys, securing against ‘eavesdropping’ and ‘spoofing’ attacks, and permits organizations to avoid the processor bottlenecks frequently associated with TLS.
Other important benefits to using nCipher’s hardware security modules are: (1) certification that meets the Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2; a simple and secure archiving of cryptographic keys; secure disaster recovery; a multi-layered security architecture; the ability to map management of the hardware to local security policy; load balancing.
