Microsoft’s Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 with Application Optimizers provides secure socket layer (SSL) virtual private network (VPN), a Web application firewall, and endpoint security management that enable access control, authorization, and content inspection for a wide variety of line-of-business applications. Together, these technologies provide mobile and remote workers with easy and flexible secure access from a broad range of devices and locations including kiosks, PCs, and mobile devices. IAG also enables IT administrators to enforce compliance with application and information usage guidelines through a customized remote access policy based on device, user, application, or other business criteria. Key benefits include:

Licensing

  • Server plus User CALs IAG is licensed in the server/client access license model. Under this model, a server license is required (available either through an OEM appliance or Virtual Machine option), as well as a CAL for each named and/or authenticated user that accesses a system running IAG 2007.

  • Server plus Device CALs Under this model, a server license is required (either through an OEM appliance or Virtual Machine option), as well as a CAL for each client device that accesses a system running IAG 2007.

Licensing Notes

  • IAG 2007 CAL Any IAG 2007 CAL can be used with any licensed appliance running IAG 2007 (and earlier) regardless of the platform (32 bit, 64 bit, and IA64), or the version.

  • IAG 2007 EC The EC license is an optional additional server license for external users that enables access to your appliances running IAG 2007. With this license, you do not need to buy individual IAG 2007 CALs. The EC license is purchased for every copy of IAG 2007 that can be accessed by the external user. An example of an external user is a person who is not an employee or similar personnel of the company or its affiliates. This license allows access to the IAG 2007 by an unlimited number of external users that can include, but is not limited to, business partners, suppliers, customers, retirees, and alumni. It is licensed per-server.

  • IAG SP2 Virtual Machine Available through Microsoft Volume Licensing this server license must be used in conjunction with a separate Windows Server 2003 R2 license (and CALs). Unlike OEM server license, which includes the underlying Windows Server license, the Virtual Machine option does not include the license for Windows Server 2003 R2 and it must be provisioned from the an existing Volume Licensing or other agreement.

Server Solutions

Hardware Appliances (OEM)

Benefits
IAG 2007 devices are comprehensive, high-performance application access and security appliances designed to help balance the tensions between security, application functionality, and broad access. With the benefits of both a network-layer firewall (ISA Server 2006) and a full SSL VPN on the same physical device, IAG delivers a policy-driven framework that unifies endpoint security, application access, and access control in a highly-scalable platform to satisfy the demands of large-scale and complex environments.

In addition, some hardware vendors have created security appliances that you can quickly deploy to automatically update your management tools and Web-based user interfaces for remote management and remote desktop protocol (RDP) sessions.

Virtual Machine

Benefits

Along with the existing, physical appliance options provided by our OEM partners, IAG SP2 can run as a virtual machine on Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V or Standalone Microsoft Hyper-V Server. Customers now have even greater flexibility in the hardware they use with IAG and can utilize the benefits of virtualization for easier roll-out, disaster recovery and more.  Furthermore, the ability to easily scale multiple instances of IAG better enables complex service-provider scenarios that heretofore required customization. IAG SP2 Virtual Machine is available for trial and through Microsoft Volume Licensing.

Available through Microsoft Volume Licensing this server license must be used in conjunction with a separate Windows Server 2003 R2 license (and CALs). Unlike OEM server license, which includes the underlying Windows Server license, the Virtual Machine option does not include the license for Windows Server 2003 R2 and it must be provisioned from the an existing Volume Licensing or other agreement.

Pricing

Prices for IAG SP2 Virtual Machine start at $2,750. Customers must also provision an existing Windows Server 2003 R2 license as well as a Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V license or a Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 license.
