Seedcamp Week 2008 will take place at University College London. Teams from around Europe can apply on the Seedcamp website until August 10 and the top 20 will be chosen to attend.
The week will involve intense mentoring and networking, giving the teams invaluable contacts and advice that will help them take an idea from concept to execution. Sessions will include interaction with well-known entrepreneurs like Martin Varsavsky, FON Richard Moross, MOO and Matt Biddulph, Dopplr and active early stage investors from Amadeus, Atlas Venture, Atomico, Balderton, DFJ Esprit, Eden, European Founders Fund, Index Ventures, Northzone, TAG, and Union Square Ventures. In addition, some of the world’s largest technology companies will be involved, including Amazon, Cisco, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, MySapce, Oracle, SUN, Yahoo.
Seedcamp was developed by Saul Klein, a serial entrepreneur and active early stage investor, to develop entrepreneurialism in Europe. He believes that Europe has the necessary ingredients to build the world’s next generation of leading technology companies – talent, capital, ideas, and examples of success – but what it lacks is the tradition of entrepreneurialism. This makes it hard for young entrepreneurs to develop the right connections, gain validation, build teams and secure funding. Seedcamp is directly addressing these challenges by bringing together entrepreneurs from all over Europe and exposing them to the collective experience of people who can help turn their grand visions into successful businesses. Seedcamp is run by Reshma Sohoni, who comes from a background in technology, working with businesses like Vodafone, and venture capital, based on experience at 3i and Softbank Capital.
