Deadline Looms for Public Comment
Next Monday, January 28, is the deadline for submitting your opinion to the Department of Justice on the antitrust settlement between Microsoft, the DoJ and nine states.
For those of you who have already submitted your comments, thank you. While the terms of the settlement are tough, Microsoft believes they are reasonable and fair to all parties, and meet - or go beyond -- the ruling by the Court of Appeals, and represent the best opportunity for Microsoft and the industry to move forward.
If you have not submitted your opinion on the agreement yet, please consider doing so now. Even though the DoJ, 9 states and Microsoft have agreed on the terms of the settlement, final adoption is not guaranteed. Many of Microsoft's competitors, as well as some of the Attorneys General who did not join the settlement, oppose the agreement and have worked during this period to generate public comment urging that it be rejected.
It is more important than ever before that your voice be heard. The DoJ must hear the full spectrum of opinion on this matter.
Please take action today to ensure your voice is heard. Here's how:
Email: microsoft.atr@usdoj.gov. In the Subject line of the e-mail,
type Microsoft Settlement.
Fax: 1-202-307-1454 or 1-202-616-9937
To find out more about the settlement and the Tunney Act review period, go to the Department of Justice Website at:

AOL Lawsuit Update
The private lawsuit filed Tuesday by AOL subsidiary Netscape Communications Corporation has drawn immediate fire from many industry analysts, including James K. Glassman:
"Instead of straightening out its business problems, AOL has decided to spend its time and effort filing lawsuits against tough competitors - a petty, distracting pursuit that won't help AOL or, for that matter, the U.S. economy, which depends on firms like Microsoft for the innovation necessary to bring about a technology revival."

Thank you for taking the time to make a difference. Your voice counts.
