TECH POLICY FEATURE: STRENGTHENING THE U.S. PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE
Since our nation's beginning, we've had a patent system that encourages innovation. In today's knowledge economy, patents play an especially critical role. Software patents enable developers to protect the value of their work and at the same time share their successes with the world. In March, the House passed H.R. 1561, which will add improvements to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Now we need the Senate to act as well.
