TPA Passes House - Next Stop: Senate FIN Members' Voices Heard and Heeded!
With little margin for error - the final vote was 215-212 - the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) Conference Report at 3:30 am EDT Saturday morning.

With a margin so narrow, every FIN member who took the time to contact your Representative should take credit for helping ensure this critical win. As recently as a couple of weeks ago, TPA was far from assured passage in the House.

But, thanks to you and others who made sure your voices were heard, this vital piece of legislation cleared the hurdle.

TPA is essential for the technology industry, giving the United States authority to negotiate international trade agreements with only up-or-down approval by Congress.

Now there's just one hurdle left: The Senate must pass the same Conference Report the House just passed. A Senate vote is currently scheduled for later this week.

The FIN will keep you posted so you can take action once again if needed, but in the meantime, thanks to those of you who did so last week.

Your voice was heard, and it made a difference.

Here's a link to how all Members of the House voted: http://clerkweb.house.gov/cgi-bin/vote.exe?year=2002&rollnumber=370.

If your Congressperson voted yes, you may want to take the time to send a note of thanks. You can do so at http://freetoinnovate.com.
